CBD Dosage: What Is The Right CBD Oil Dosage For You?

There is no quick and easy answer to the best hemp-derived Cannabidiol (CBD) oil Dosage for you. However, there is information that would be valuable to you for making the best choice for yourself. A self-analysis of what your needs are, what CBD products you want to take, and also what symptoms do you want to help.

According to science, the optimal daily amount of CBD oil should be around 150mg-600mg of CBD to help symptoms. Per day! This can be around $11,000 per year, at the lowest. If you are like most people, this is virtually impossible to afford. In perspective, the first and only FDA and clinically approved treatment using CBD is $32,500 per year in cost.

The study ( Pharmaceuticals (Basel) . 2012] itself combined over 34 different clinical trials and studies, and based off averages, most people who have sleep insomnia needed 160mg of CBD oil to significantly increase sleep, while those with anxiety needed around 400mg of CBD to see effects. The study then noted that consistent doses of 600mg of CBD helped acute schizophrenia in patients.

However, these dosage amounts are practically impossible for the common person, as 1000mg oils can range from $55 to $125 depending on the brand. CBDistillery currently has one of the lowest prices of legitimate 1000mg CBD oil at $60. You can view this product for purchase on our website here.

For reference, you would need to take half of a 30ml bottle per day! That is a lot of oil, and is simply impractical for most people. This guide for the right CBD oil dosage will be based on practically, affordability, expertise, and millions of customer trials and reviews. A nd will be designed with the common person in mind. For our CBD Oil Dosage calculator please look below at our dosage chart.

For a quick and easy summary before a more in-depth explanation below would mostly be based on the the type of symptoms you are feeling. Based off scientific research and studies, a general rule the recommended daily dose of CBD is 30-60mg of CBD oil. However, there is a multiple of ways and schools of thought to achieve this amount. In order to calculate your CBD oil dosage correctly please follow below.

  1. Test and Repeat: We always suggest starting with 5-10mg of CBD, waiting 3-4 hours, and increase as necessary until you find your desired effect.
  2. Slow Route: People should start with a low dosage of 500mg CBD (no matter severity of symptoms), them increase slowly over time until they reach desired effect.
  3. Severity Scale: Go by the three-tiered scale system. This is a system we will use below with pain relief as the example. But it applies to all types of relief, which you will learn in a minute. This system is based off customer experience only, and not scientific research specifically.

In terms of pain relief, the right hemp CBD dosage for you is below. Note that each dropper contains 1 milliliter (ml) of CBD oil. the amount of CBD in each dropper is a multiple of two, starting from 8.3mg of CBD in the 250mg CBD oil tincture.

Then 16.7mg for 500mg CBD oil tinctures and so on. This makes sense, as the amount of CBD per container is just the amount of one dropper multiplied by 30 (30ml times 16.7mg/ml = 500mg. There other size difference such as 750mg oil and 1500mg oils, but that will discussed further down the article.

This piece is our general rules, do not take this guide as definitive. It is an example of how you should be analyzing CBD oil dosage for yourself with scientific evidence as backup research.

We will be using three terms for ranking and classifying symptoms with hemp CBD oil dosage. Those are minor, moderate and major. These should be self-explanatory, but that is also based off of opinion. On a “scale” ranking, minor pains would be a 1-4, moderate would be 5-7, and severe would be 8-10. Using inflammation as an example, a rash would be a 3-4, and a rattlesnake bite venom induced inflammation would be an 8-9 on the scale.

This ranking is very subjective, but with people with many different needs and symptoms, would be the most general way to find the best CBD dosing for you.

1. For Minor Effects: 250mg-500mg oils, or approximately 30mg of CBD oil.

Based on the chart this would be approximately:

250mg: Four droppers (2 droppers twice a day)

500mg: Two droppers (1 dropper twice a day) (recommended)

1000mg: One dropper (½ dropper twice a day)

The best and most efficient dosing for minor pains is one full dropper of the 500mg CBD oil, twice a day. Equaling a total of around 33mg of CBD.

2. For Moderate Effects: 500mg-1000mg oils, or approximately 45mg of CBD oil.

Based on the chart, that is approximately:

500mg: 3 droppers a day (1½ dropper twice a day)

1000mg: 1½ droppers a day. ¾ of a dropper or 75ml twice a day (recommended)

3. For Severe Effects: 1000mg+ oils, or approximately 60mg-100mg depending on severity.

1000mg: 2+ droppers a day.

You cannot overdose on CBD, plus the fact that CBD oils have virtually no side effects for the normal person (or minimal depending on the person). We will not calculate dosages based off the chart as you should speak to a medical professional, doctor or your practitioner before using CBD for severe pains or symptoms.

The CBD oil dosage for symptoms really depend on what you have and the severity. The CBD oil dosage for irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, Fibromyalgia, chronic pain relief, Crohn’s disease and sleep insomnia all differ. But we definitely suggest a dose in the higher range as stated.

Your doctor would give you more correct or specific instructions for amount of CBD dosage you should take. From our point of view, any oil past 1000mg should be personally tested by yourself to see what is best for you. Do not jump to 2500mg of CBD oil if 1500mg is all you may need. Start low, and move up until you see the effects you want. And also it saves you a lot of money, which is also great.

Now, we used “effects” as an example for what mg of CBD you should take. However, know that this template applies to most types of symptoms including anxiety, inflammation, sleep insomnia and others. In that case, analyze what type of symptom you have, and pick the proper dosage from you after whether your symptoms are minor, moderate, or severe.

Does CBD or CBD oil Go Bad?

The shelf life of CBD oil tinctures is approximately between 14-24 months depending on the freshness from the online store, how the CBD oil tincture was stored, or noted otherwise.

The factors that affect the shelf life of CBD includes how the CBD oil was extracted. If the CBD oil tincture was extracted through CO2 Extraction, then it will likely last the longest. If extracted using alcohol it will still last, just not as long. CBD oil extracted from olive oil will last the least amount of time due to the fact olive oil dilutes the oil and does not have a long shelf life itself.

If you want to prolong the life of your oil store it in cool, dry, and dark places. Such as a cellar or basement. As a tip, wrap the CBD oil tincture in aluminum foil to keep it from sunlight, therefore helping the CBD lasting longer.

The lifespan of CBD oil tinctures also depend on the ingredients of the oil and where the hemp plant was extracted. Some manufacturers extract CBD in areas with soil contaminated by heavy metals or other things. The quality of cannabinoids extracted play a large role in how long a CBD oil tincture will last for you.

CBD DOSING GUIDE – How Much Should I Take? [UPDATED]

UPDATED March 2, 2021 – Ready to reap the benefits of CBD? Awesome. One of the things that is most important to understand how much CBD you should be taking and what a suggested dose is based on. Much of this is dependent on our individual bodies and there is not an official serving size, in this post we cover some dosing guidelines and suggestions to assist you. As you might guess, much of this is a function of our individual weight and metabolism and body chemistry. Dive in and see what is best for you so you can get the most out of your C+L supplements and improve your personal preparation, performance + recovery.

Let’s start by addressing some common misconceptions about CBD. First off: you can’t get “high” using CBD. In order to be legal for sale in the US, CBD can’t contain more than 0.3% concentration of THC, the psychoactive compound responsible for the sensation of “getting high”. In simple terms: virtually no amount of CBD could be consumed to trigger the psychoactive effects commonly associated with THC. Put another way, there’s small amounts of alcohol in toothpaste, but you’re never going to get drunk by swallowing tubes of Colgate. That said, it is important to figure out the right dosage for your needs.

How Much CBD Should I Take?

Dialling in the correct dosage for your body is an important part of getting the most out of your CBD supplements. Once you’ve found the right dosage you’re not only going to get the most benefits from your supplements and feel great, but you’re also going to guard against wasting money by using excess product.

As a baseline, our suggested dosage is 0.25mg CBD multiplied by your body weight in pounds on a daily basis. Therefore, a 120 pound person should take 30mg CBD daily (0.25 x 120 = 30), and a 200 pound person should take 50mg CBD daily (0.25 x 200 = 50). Ideally, split your doses equally between morning and evening. With this formula you can now easily figure out your suggested dose.

That said, there is no ‘official serving size’ or standard dose’ and it varies from person to person. Your ideal dosage will be based on a variety of factors including your weight, metabolism, the type of product you’re using (tincture, softgel, topical), and body type. For the best potential for success, we recommend some experimentation and consistent usage to determine the right dosage for you. It can take 2-3 weeks to determine the proper dosage, but once you witness CBD’s effects on your body you’ll be in a better position to decide how much to take and when to take it, so be patient and take your time.

CBD Dosage

  1. Tinctures – taking the correct amount of tincture can be confusing, so we are going explain it in detail. This is going to be easy using the information from the formula we introduced above. First, you need to be mindful of which strength of tincture that you purchased, 500 or 1000mg. Remember, our examples are based-on only using tinctures, so adjust accordingly if you are also using softgels, oral spray or topicals.
    1. Now, if you purchased a 500mg Tincture, the full bottle will contain ~600 drops worth of tincture and each drop will contain approximately 0.8mg of CBD. Now, if you recall from reading above, we suggest a dose of 0.25mg multiplied by your bodyweight in pounds. For example, if you are 120 pounds you should be taking 30mg CBD per day for best results. Here is our formula 0.25 x 120 = 30mg, and now to convert that into drops, we take 30mg and divide that by the 0.8mg per drop and you get ~35 drops (experiment with between 30-40 drops and see what works best for you). For a 200 pound person, our formula suggests a does of ~60 drops per day (experiment between 60-70 drops per day and see what is optimal).
    2. Let’s run through this same exercise using our 1000mg tincture bottle which also contains ~600 drops of CBD oil. It is important to note that since this product is 2x the concentration that each drop now contains ~1.6mg of CBD. For the same 120 pound person that we used as an example above, you would now take ~15 drops per day (experiment with between 15-25 drops per day to see what is optima)l. For the 200 pound person, they would take ~30 drops per day (experiment with between 25-35 drops per day and see what works best for your body). Check out our PREPARE Tincture for your morning routine or RECOVER Tincture in the evening or 60 minutes before bed.

    Dosage Tips

In order to figure out the right dosage for you, here are some basic steps to start with:

    1. Start Small – We recommend starting with smaller doses and gradually increasing as needed. Although too much CBD won’t cause any harm, taking more than you need could waste product unnecessarily. If you’re a tincture user, start with 1/2 of our suggested dose for the first week of your PREPARE Tincture in the morning or one dosage of RECOVER Tincture in the evening 60 minutes prior to bedtime.
    2. Take Daily – Everyone’s body is different when it comes to CBD. Many people need to build up the substance in their system in order to start seeing benefits. If you don’t see results right away, keep up your daily doses for four weeks, paying close attention to the changes you sense in your body.

Once you’ve figured out your ideal CBD dose you’ll be able to feel confident as you start maximizing the positive benefits of your CBD routine and enjoy the effects it has on your personal preparation, performance and recovery.
